Srinagar, Sep 18 (KNO): In view of heavy pressure due to single-lane traffic in Udhampur on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway and restrictions on traffic movement, the railway authorities have decided to operate a special train between Budgam and Katra.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the service, Vastodom Special, will remain functional for 15 days, starting from September 19 till October 3.
They said the service is temporary till the road gets fully restored, with stoppages en route. The decision has been taken to provide relief to local passengers, who are facing inconvenience due to the closure of the Jammu–Srinagar highway.
“The special train has been scheduled keeping in view the difficulties being faced by people. Our priority is to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for passengers during the highway restrictions,” an official said—(KNO)
